The apple is an important mythological and spiritual symbol from many different cultures and religions.
In Christianity it became the symbol for the "forbidden fruit" and thus a symbol for Wisdom and Temptation. In greek mythology the Apple of Discord, was awarded to Aphrodite by Paris, and ultimately started the Trojan War. Golden Apples were also a gift of the Goddess Aphrodite to Hippomenes. In Norse mythology, the goddess Iðunn was the appointed keeper of golden apples that kept the Æsir young (or immortal) forever. Celtic mythology includes a story about Conle who receives an apple which feeds him for a year but also gives him an irresistible desire for fairyland. Apples and Apple Trees have found their way into aspects of my own life, even with my own childhood nickname be related to this noble of fruits. It became only natural that this website be dedicated to this important symbol of wisdom, beauty, love, mysticism, magick and knowledge. |  |
